Code Enforcement Officer

The City of Belle Isle is seeking a motivated and professional individual to join our team as a Code Enforcement Officer.

This position plays a key role in maintaining the quality of life in our community by working directly with residents, businesses, and City staff to ensure compliance with local codes and ordinances. We are looking for someone who can balance enforcement with customer service, communicate effectively, and take initiative in solving problems.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Investigating code complaints and conducting field inspections
• Educating residents and businesses on City ordinances
• Working toward voluntary compliance whenever possible
• Preparing reports, notices, and case documentation
• Attending hearings and representing the City when needed

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
• Professional demeanor with a customer service mindset
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Prior code enforcement, law enforcement, or related experience is preferred

Compensation & Benefits:
• Starting pay: $24.52/hour (~$51,002 annually based on 80-hour pay schedule)
• 16% City contribution into a 401(a) retirement plan
