POSITION OPENING - PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

 

City of Belle Isle, FL

The City of Belle Isle, FL, is seeking applicants for the position of Public Works Director.

Position Overview: Under the direction of the City Manager, performs advanced technical and administrative work planning, organizing, and directing Public Works Department operations, overseeing City operations of streets, sidewalks, rights-of-way, grounds, facilities, stormwater, and environmental services, maintenance of department records and files, preparing reports, department budget, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work with the City Engineer on street and stormwater construction projects. This position is designated as essential during emergency or disaster situations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, construction management, civil engineering, or related field and extensive experience in construction administration, maintenance, planning, and design, including considerable supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess at least five years of experience in Public Works Administration.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Project management experience.
  • Completion of NIMS ICS courses within 12 months of hire.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public works operations, advanced management skills, an understanding of municipal financial management and capital improvement planning, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Critically, the ideal candidate must demonstrate high ethical standards, honesty, and integrity.

Preference will be given to those applicants that reside in the City of Belle Isle or within a 5-mile radius of the City.

Hiring Range: $85,000 – $92,000 DOQ
